CUA30220 CERTIFICATE III IN COMMUNITY DANCE, THEATRE AND EVENTS (Musical Theatre Major)

This course builds on foundations in performance and musical theatre, guiding learners to refine their technical skills and knowledge while preparing for higher-level qualifications. Students are encouraged to apply their learning in practical, performance-based contexts that reflect real musical theatre environments.

Ideal for secondary school students, this qualification also contributes units toward the WACE score. It provides the stepping stone for young performers to grow their artistry and begin developing as Triple Threat artists in acting, singing, and dance.

This qualification is offered in partnership with ATOD: 31624

We know secondary school students need training that fits around their studies. That’s why this course offers flexible options: complete it in one year with two days of tuition each week, or spread it over two years with one day a week.

Training runs across the four school terms, and students also gain valuable real-world experience through extra rehearsal and performance hours—just like in the industry.

ONE YEAR OPTION- 2 DAYS A WEEK- Thursday/Friday

TWO YEAR OPTION- 1 DAY A WEEK- Friday

Secondary School Students can study this qualification whilst in Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 in a general pathway.

Training occurs on a Thursday and Friday (Over 1 year) or Friday’s (Over 2 years).

Secondary students will also earn credits toward their WACE score, with all SCSA dates met and direct communication maintained between Emergent Academy, schools, and VET coordinators

Like any qualification, the Certificate III includes a range of units that must be completed for certification.

As this is a pathway into higher-level study, the subject matter broadens to give learners a strong foundation across the performing arts.

Subjects cover key areas such as:

  • Industry knowledge and career preparation

  • Physical Conditioning

  • Dance Genres

  • Aural Skills

  • Acting

  • Vocals and Musical Theatre

You don’t need to be an expert in every subject. This course is designed to build on your strengths while also extending you in areas where you need further development—helping you grow into a versatile, well-rounded performer.

UNITS INCLUDE: BSBTWK301, CUAIND311, CUAIND314, CUAWHS312, CUAPR317, CUAPRF316, CUAWHS311, CUAACT311, CUAPRF311, CUAVOS312, CUAWHS211, CUAPRF419, CUADAN211

As with all nationally recognised qualifications, this course includes both theory and practical components. Students take part in guided theory classes where trainers teach and support the knowledge required for each unit.

At AQF Level 3, most theory is delivered and completed in class with trainer support, meaning only a small amount of independent work is expected at home. All assessments are guided through our tailored classroom platform, so learners are supported every step of the way.
