The Phoenix Program
This unique program is designed for learners who wish to extend their skills and experiences whome are currently working full time. Training occurs outside the 9-5 (for the most part) so adults have the flexibility to work and train at the same time. This training program encompasses the qualification CUA50220 Diploma in Musical Theatre
This course offers a run at night on Monday and Thursday nights with a full day on Sunday every four weeks.
The program runs for eighteen months, with breaks scheduled in line with school holidays (six terms).
Emergent Academy understands that performing arts qualifications are a private investment, so we make it easier with flexible payment options. Courses include an enrolment/auspice fee followed by flexible tuition fees, which can be paid weekly, fortnightly, or monthly across the duration of your course.
Students also have the option to access funding support through our provider, Society One.
To ensure opportunities are accessible, we also offer financial hardship and talent-based scholarships, available on application.
As with all nationally recognised qualifications, this course is made up of units that build both technical ability and industry readiness. Training covers a wide range of subjects, including:
Acting – monologue, scene work, improvisation, and scene-to-song
Vocal – advanced technical skills, performance practice, and aural development
Dance – musical theatre dance genres and ensemble performance styles
Industry & Career – sustainability, professionalism, and employability skills
Conditioning & Wellbeing – stretch, strength, and nutrition
Stagecraft – make-up, performance, rehearsal, and audition techniques
This all-round training is designed to give students the skills and confidence they need to step into the industry as versatile and employable performers.
Students take part in dedicated theory classes that directly support the practical elements of the course. As this is an AQF Level 5 qualification, learners are expected to complete some homework and project work outside of class.
The academic component includes:
Critical thinking and reflection
Short written responses
Research projects
These tasks are designed to deepen understanding and help students connect theory with practice, building the professional mindset needed for the industry.
